Enjoy a lovely long weekend!
Good sunny afternoon everyone,
As the weather improves we are seeing so much more activity outside before and after school.
This is obviously great and thank you to the families who are taking care and making sure our students are playing safely.
Remember, the space between the two schools is completely cement or blacktop, and this space is actually tiny.
Cavell is outside until approximately 8:50 in the morning, and for a few minutes the north end of the old Maple Grove (Cavell now) is very congested.
After 3:00, almost all of Cavell have departed.
Our students and families are enjoying the outside time and space, and it is quite crowded, particularly right after 3:00.
I have reminded the students on the school PA of school expectations regarding bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and roller blades.
These items are not to be used on school property before 3:20 pm on school days.
It is simply too crowded for students to be safely using these fun items, so please remind your child to follow our expectations and wait until after 3:20, and be very careful not to collide into others.
The staff parking lot should never be used for riding or blading.
We sent this out two weeks ago and we thank you for your attention. Students seem to be following expectations and everyone seems to be interacting safely.
Thank you for your support,
Kevin
Update from Vancouver Coastal Health
As you are aware, pre-COVID the Vancouver Pediatric Team nurses hosted school based routine childhood vaccination clinics for Kindergarten, Grade 6 and Grade 9 students. Given that the VPT nurses have been re-deployed, please find attached an updated letter from VCH outlining information regarding routine childhood vaccinations, information on hearing and vision screening, dental care and youth clinics.
