principals-message  March 29th, 2020 Update

Dear Maple Grove,
I’m writing to let you know that the school district has taken the unprecedented steps in order to facilitate the needs of essential services workers requirements for child care during the COVID 19 pandemic.  Maple Grove Lunchroom and Boys basement area will be used as childcare for Frontline Health + Medical workers as well as other frontline essential services parents such as cashiers, truck drivers, and other professions where parents are courageously working for the interests of all of us so we can stay safe, healthy and fed.

Maple Grove Admin have nothing to do with enrolment or registration- so please don’t contact the school!  We are only site management.

Westcoast Child Care Resource Centre (WCCRC) is responsible for all enrolment, registration and supervision of the program.  WCCRC is responsible for ensuring the direction of the Provincial Health Officer is followed for the child care children in their care.  Further, WCCRC will be open for extended hours, currently M-F from 7:30am-6pm (hours are subject to change).

It is essential that as per the Provincial Health Officer’s Orders all VSB playgrounds remain closed. Child are licensing has indicated that use of the school field is compliant with licensing requirements.

Also, WCCRC will be instructed to stay within a designated area. Currently that will be the child care’s existing licensed area.  If it is determined more space is required (i.e. MCFD indicates more space is needed to comply with social distancing) Principal’s will be informed by the district.

All child care spots are being allocated by Westcoast Child Care Resource Centre (WCCRC). Eligibility (essential services worker) and access to all spots (whether located at VSB or at COV sites) are all through Westcoast Child Care Resource Centre.  No spots are allocated by VSB.  Contact WCCRC for all questions and for registration. There is an intake form on WCCRC’s website.

Stay home.  Stay Safe.
