The Associate Superintendent of the Vancouver School Board has asked that schools communicate out to our school communities the following….
“The message below is to be shared with staff and families in your school community through your established channels of communication. The District will also post this message on school websites and on the District’s home page.
There is a possibility that SkyTrain service on the Millennium and Expo lines will be shut down from Tuesday, December 10 to Thursday, December 12.
Canada Line and West Coast Express will continue service. Bus service will also continue to run normally. However there are currently no additional bus services or bus bridges planned by Translink. We are all advised to watch for updates on TransLink’s usual customer service channels, including social media, Transit Alerts and on translink.ca.
Schools in the Vancouver School District will be in session according to normal schedules. The usual attendance procedures will remain in place. We recognize staff and students travel to and from school in a variety of ways and those who rely on transit likely have been planning for potential disruption to their regular commute.
We encourage staff and students to consider the potential impacts on their commute to and from school. Also, please be mindful that there may be additional traffic, including around schools. Please drive safely in school zones.”
