PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

What an awesome, entertaining and thrilling first week back!  Our school numbers are around 500 (the dust is still settling) and there are a few minor hiccups that we’re dealing with.  but, other than that, it’s smooth sailing so far.  Over all, the start up as been smooth and uneventful.  I credit the staff for this as they spent days casting classes and discussing student placement.  Our numbers are solid as we had about 112 new students transfer into Maple Grove (MG).  We are basically a full school.

We rolled into new classes on Wednesday morning, and we haven’t had any lost students.  Rolling boards have been placed around the school and have been an effective way to communicate daily events with parents and students.  Also, our school blog (maplegroveschool.net) is the place to go for information, goings-on, and events.  Our Kindergarten students are participating in their gradual entry and will be full time by Wednesday next week.

I want to acknowledge our fantastic PAC for all their work in welcoming parents and in creating an atmosphere of inclusion and support for families.  We work very closely with our PAC and we have a wonderful collaborative relationship with them.

Parents please make sure you read through our School Handbook (TAB on the Maplegroveschool.net blog, as well as the Parent TAB and the Blogs and Links TABS.  These TABS have useful information for all parents.

In coming weeks I will publish school organizations, staff lists, etc.  For now, please enjoy the school start-up with your child; continue to be positive with them about school; and know that we have your child’s best interests at heart.

We will be having our first assembly Monday morning… there will be limited space at the back for parents.  We are planning monthly assemblies as a way to provide strong and consistent messaging to the students, and to create a feeling/ culture of family and collaboration.  We are working on culture and making MG an engaging and awesome school for students, staff and parents.

I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge the engineering staff and the office staff for working so diligently through the summer to ensure the building was in tip-top shape and that we were ready to go!

For those of you interested in seismic updates, I’m told that the new school build is on schedule and that the contractor is happy with their progress.

Yours in Schooling,
Principal Evans

School Cash Online

We are very pleased to report that over 50% of Maple Grove’s school fees have already been paid online.  Our parents are finding it a very efficient and easy way to deal with payments that are due to the school.  If you haven’t created an account as yet.  Please review the pink form in your child’s package and follow the prompts.  (Tip:  Always click on the box that says you don’t know your child’s student number, and use your child’s usual name – not their legal name if it is different.)  https:/vsb.schoolcashonline.com
