PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Another busy week has come and gone.  Today was an exciting day at MG.  Sports Day was fantabulous!  Special thanks to our amazing Sports Day Committee for all their hard work and organizing.

The committee would like to thank:

  1. Staff who helped in a supporting role.
  2. All the Alumni who gave up their first day of holidays to spend helping MG kids.
  3. Our awesome PAC for doing everything and being willing to help in all matters and forms
  4. Mr. Greg Quan who beefed up our AV and has given us awesome support all year.
  5. Mr. Steve Hall, PE Dept Head at Magee, for allowing us to use the field and line it.
  6. The Magee Admin team for all their support and for letting us just run with it.

Music Opportunities- I also wanted to acknowledge Mr. Quan, for wonderful participation and performances at ARTilicious 2 ARTShow Extravaganza and at the Strings Concert earlier this week.  Mr. Quan has been inspirational to many students who are keen to pursue music next year (see below).

Class Placements- MG does not participate in teacher requests.  Thank you to the parents who sent in their requests prior to the May 27th deadline.  Thank you, also, to the parents who’ve been sending in late requests for placements.  There was criteria published on May 3rd along with deadlines.  If you didn’t follow the process there’s no guarantee that your request will be reviewed.  Further, even for requests submitted on time, there are many factors that go into class placement and there are no guarantees that we can accommodate your request.

Saying Goodbye- Awards ceremonies have been completed.  It’s time to say goodbye to some staff who are leaving.  Dr Collins is retiring and going to bigger and better things.

Alix MacNiel has decided to resign her position at MG and continue her work with International Baccalaureate programming and do some subbing.  We are hoping to continue to do some Pro D work with Ms. MacNiel over the coming years.

Here are some changes at MG:

Ms. Seebaran is reducing her time to M,T.  Ms. Tang will be W, Th, F

Ms. Boulanger is reducing to M-Th.  Please welcome Montessori expert, Ms. Khan as her F only job share partner.

Ms. Adams is reducing her time and leaving the enrolling position.  She will be a T,W,Th prep and Resource teacher.  Please welcome Ms. Lucas to the 4-5-6 classroom.

Please welcome Ms. Vivian Lee.  Ms. Lee will be replacing Ms. MacNiel.

Please welcome Ms. Vermaas.  Ms. Vermaas has worked as a temporary teacher at MG in a variety of capacities… she will be covering Ms. Tseng’s leave of absence.

More to come next week with Grad… for now, thank you to everyone for a great year!

The school will be happy to mail your child’s report card if you provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope.  Otherwise you may give your teacher a note to allow another person to collect the report card.  Any reports cards that are not collected on June 27th will be kept in the office until September.

Lost and Found

Please encourage your child to check the Lost and Found for missing items.  We’ll have to donate and/or dispose of all the items in the next week.
