PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear parents,
It’s almost inexplicable how busy it gets after spring break in schools- Definitely lots going on! This was one of those special days that the whole school community looks forward to… Recognizing our amazing army of volunteers who work tirelessly to make Maple Grove an amazing and engaging place to learn!
One of my favorite quotes is, “To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.” The Maple Grove Magic is everywhere, and what better place to share and acknowledge the magic than in our beautiful library. This morning we had our annual Volunteer Tea and it was a lovely celebration.
You may never know the profound effect that you have made on a person’s life. A kind word, a gentle nudge, a listening ear, an act of kindness, can mean so much to some of our students. You generously give the gift of time to provide support and encouragement and compassion to a school community in need of special materials and resources. Without your time, and commitment, much of what we do at the school wouldn’t be possible.
You give of yourself and bring with you your life experiences, skills, abilities, compassion, intellect and humor and ask for nothing in return, yet you receive friendship from many of our staff, appreciation from all of our students, and satisfaction hopefully from within you.
You volunteer for many different reasons but for whatever reason you provide support, skills, talents, abilities and opportunities to all of our learners here at the school.
We celebrate the selfless individuals in and around our school community who channel their civic virtues through volunteerism… devoted to a cause bigger than themselves… their child’s schooling. Volunteers help drive our schools progress and day in and day out they make extraordinary sacrifices to expand promise and possibility of making Maple Grove a better place to learn.
You do not ask for accolades. You give your time generously without any expectation of reward. Yet you receive the reward of knowing that your volunteerism is making a profound and significant difference to our school community.
Please know that we genuinely appreciate and value your commitment of time to volunteering with our school and for this we are truly, and sincerely, thankful. I would also like to acknowledge our wonderful and awesome staff for all of their contributions and artwork in setting up and organizing this event. I would like to thank our wonderful Volunteer Tea Committee (Ms. Emery, Ms. Szeto, Ms. Tornroos, Ms. Garrod and Ms. Adams). The committee was awesome and passionate about honouring our wonderful volunteers… THANK YOU Everyone!
Can you bike to school or work for 5 days next week?
Make sure you have a helmet and a lock! If you live too far to bike all the way, you can park somewhere along the Arbutus Greenway and have a fun and safe bike ride to Maple Grove.
We’ll have a sign-in sheet ready near the front door in the school. This year there are a limited supply of cool tattoos for riders!
Let’s try to beat our record from last year! The weather looks good and we have more staff riding than in the past, so students should do their best to keep ahead of staff for logged in trips.
