Professional Development Day on Monday February 19th.
No school for students – Enjoy the long weekend.
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Maple Grove Families,
I just wanted to acknowledge all the staff students and parents who were on site yesterday for their calm conduct during an interesting start to our afternoon. We work closely with our policing partners and they are always mindful of school safety. Magee and Maple Grove were in direct contact with our VPD School Liaison officers throughout the 15-20 minute hold + secure after Vancouver Police Department advised our school of a police incident close by. The exterior school doors were locked to prevent anyone entering and exiting the building in accordance with established Vancouver School Board emergency procedures. The hold and secure was lifted after approximately 15 minutes on the advice of the Vancouver Police Department. Students, staff and parents reacted calmly and continued with their in school activities (a school-wide presentation of Hip Hop dance).
You may recall that Maple Grove cancelled our previous lock down drill a few weeks ago and we are currently in the process of rescheduling it. We will advise our school community when we will be practicing our drill as we will have VPD officers on site to assist us.
Happy Lunar New Year!
Senior Boy’s Basketball
With great teamwork and passing MG Boys Basketball team defeat DLG in a physical game on Wednesday. Thank you to our coach Principal Evans for all the time and energy he spends on the players. Also special thanks to Ms. Humeniuk for managing the team and organizing all the supporting cast (e.g., scorekeepers).
