WELCOME BACK
Greetings Everyone! Welcome back to school! We had a busy June/ July and a frantic past two weeks hiring additional staffing at the school and making all the necessary adjustments to accommodate various changes to staff assignments. As you can appreciate, this is a complex process and will take a little bit of time to complete. Further, it appears to be the norm in many schools in BC at the moment. We appreciate your patience and support while we work through this process.
We are so looking forward to seeing the students and excited to begin the year. The library will be open for coffee and tea from 8:55 am to 10:00 am on Tuesday. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
WEEK 1 Overview
Here is what the start of the week looks like for all except the kindergarten classes. Kindergarten students have received their gradual entry schedules via email.
On Tuesday morning school is in session from 9-10. Coffee is available for parents in our Library. Please take your child home at 10 am. There is limited supervision as staff will be in meetings all morning and then again in the afternoon. Returning students are to report to their last year’s classroom. New students to the school, who have already registered, will report to certain classrooms (see below). Students who have not yet registered will report to the main office. A teacher will be in each classroom to meet the students, take attendance as well as some general housekeeping items.
On Wednesday, students report to the Tuesday morning class. School is in session 9:00-3:00pm. Please send your child to school with a recess snack and a lunch. Around 10 am, all things considered, we will likely move into our new classes. At 11:00am class lists will be posted around the school (south stairwell, back entrance, north entrance, main entrance, outside the office) for parents to reference when they come back to the school to pick up their child at 3:00 pm. Plan on arriving a little early so you have time to see which room your child is in.
On Thursday, students report to their new classroom. School is in session 9:00-3:00pm. Please send your child to school with a recess snack and a lunch.
Friday is a regular school day. Please be reminded to send your child to school with a recess snack and a lunch. There is NO HOT LUNCH program at Maple Grove. Our PAC does do a hot lunch fundraiser (TBA).
