Kids Help Phone and Walk so Kids Can Talk on Sunday, May 7th.
Kids Help Phone is a Canadian and world leader known for our expertise and continuous innovation as Canada’s only 24/7 counselling and information service for young people. Since 1989, our trained, professional counsellors have been listening to kids, often when no one else can or will. We are always there – supporting young people wherever and whenever they need us most.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen in my life, but I wanted to call and thank you for listening. You were the only ones who did.”
– 14-year-old caller
Our free and anonymous service supports young people as they build the skills and abilities they’ll need to improve their emotional health and well-being. In addition to an array of counselling options, we offer young people a wide range of online resources and we work tirelessly to share young people’s perspectives on a societal level – locally, nationally, and globally.
We could not do this important, life-changing work without the generous support of our donors and sponsors. Kids Help Phone raises the majority of our revenue from foundational, corporate, and individual donations. Thanks to our generous donors we can always be there, proudly supporting the 6.5 million young people in Canada between the ages of five and 20 in both English and French.
Did You Know?
- In our first 25 years, young people connected with Kids Help Phone’s professional counsellors more than 7.1 million times.
- Research shows that Kids Help Phone significantly improves youth mental health.
- Anything goes – young people contact us about a wide range of issues that include everything from struggles with relationships, to moving to a new school, to cyberbullying, abuse, and mental health concerns. Whatever their concerns, we’re always here to listen and help.
Whether by phone, mobile app or through our websites, we make sure kids can connect with us when they need us, the way they need us.

Thank you for your continuous support and understanding.

Magee Construction Update
As part of the continuing work at Magee Secondary, portables will be placed on the tennis courts between Magee and Maple Grove. They are expected the week of May15th but may be delayed until the following week. There may also be disruption to the staff parking lot entering from 48th Avenue.
Please be aware that heavy equipment will be in use during the moving process and respect the directions of construction workers and VSB staff. We must ensure student’s safety.
“LET’S BOOST READING”
The Kerrisdale Community Centre will be running a One to One Reading Mentoring program , for grades 1 and 2 students, starting in July & August. Students will read out loud for 30 minutes weekly, with an experienced Literacy tutor, who will provide individual attention to help boost confidence in struggling or reluctant readers.
Look for the May brochure which will be out mid-May. Registration is on May 26th online or in person at the Kerrisdale Community Centre. (Spaces are limited, so it is first come first served!)
This program runs throughout the year and many Maple Grove students have benefited from this program.
May 9th – Provincial Election Day
Maple Grove’s gym is a polling station for the Provincial Election. Please be aware that there may be additional traffic, especially pedestrian, throughout the day this Tuesday. This would be a good day to walk your child to school, or park a couple of blocks away and then walk to school.
