PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Parents,
Well it’s been another busy week at Maple Grove. Undoubtedly many of you have heard things in the news and on social media this past week. I want to assure you that at the school level, it is business-as-usual! We are continuing to focus on student education and engagement as our priority .
The staff continually practice and reflect on how to create opportunities for students to experience intellectual risk-taking, collaboration, problem-solving, and application of classroom learning to real life situations. We discuss and debate which strategies might work best to promote ownership of learning for students and to design instruction, and supports, to integrate a variety of innovative technological tools and resources to enhance student teaching and learning. We are currently, “digging deep” into Social Emotional Learning, which is just one element under the umbrella of Differentiated Instruction, as a way to continue to enhance student learning at Maple Grove. Our commitment at Maple Grove is to provide a safe and intellectually challenging environment that will empower students to become innovative thinkers, creative problem solvers and inspired learners who are engaged with their learning as they prepare to be 21st Century leaders. We encourage all students to embrace their educational experience and continue to strive for their personal best.
Thank you to all the staff, students and parents who were able to give so much time towards Goal Setting Conferences. Conferencing with parents and students is an important part of making plans and setting up the year to be a successful one.
Lastly, I’d like to wish everyone an enjoyable Thanksgiving long weekend. Enjoy having Monday off. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
Fresh to You – Another exciting fundraiser
Our school is looking to provide you with incredible local, fall produce and raise funds at the same time. We are now selling excellent Harvest Veggie Baskets for only $25 and 10 lbs. of Gala apples for $18! They are great value and 40% of funds raised go to our school. The bright green Fresh to You order forms went home with students this week. Encourage your children to sell these baskets to their friends, neighbours and family! The baskets will be distributed mid- November. Great items and value!
Payment can be made with cash or cheque (Maple Grove PAC); return to the box in the office. Please have payment to the office by Wednesday, October 19th.
Thanks again for all the support you show to all of our fundraising endeavours!

Maple Grove Participates in International Walk to School Week!
Great job Maple Grove families for participating in the Annual Walk to School Week. Thank you to Ms. Lam for helping to get us all organized. Many students had walking school buses in place as families shared in the walk to school experience. Even some of our families who are too far away to walk; either rode their bikes, or drove-parked- and walked the remaining blocks to school.
Maple Grove students raised over $720 for the Terry Fox Foundation– September 29th
Thank you to Div 2, Mr. Naipaul’s class, for organizing this event. Our goal is to raise $500.00. We had a beautiful sunny day to run around Maple Grove Park. Thank you also to Ms. Hales for this lovely picture that she took this summer in Thunder Bay at the Terry Fox Memorial.
