BOOK BAGS, TEXT BOOKS AND LIBRARY BOOKS
Because school closed down rather abruptly at the end of the year, we had quite a lot of materials that were not returned. Could you please check for any items that belong to the school and return them to your classroom teacher. Thank you so much.
VIDEO GAMES
Please be aware that there are many, many video games which are unsuitable for children. I think there are many that are unsuitable for anyone. Among these is one called “Grand Theft Auto” a video game that depicts violence including sexual violence. Sometimes I hear rumours that children might be watching this. Happily I believe that it is very rare in our community of responsible and conscientious parents. I just felt I should let you know of this in case your child might be accessing such a video game without your knowledge.
WALK TO SCHOOL WEEK
What a treat it is to see so many people walking or biking to school. I believe this is so much healthier for everyone and certainly reduces the dangerous traffic congestion around the school.
Hot Lunch Refund or Credit for June Job Action Days
The deadline for applying for a refund or credit is October 31. Please pick up a form from the office if you have not applied and are entitled to a refund.
If you have applied for a credit, and not already used it, please reduce November’s Hot Lunch amount by $43.00. Those who have applied for a refund will receive their cheque from the Vancouver School Board in the next few weeks.
Calling all Montessori Parents!
Apologies for the typo in last week’s meeting announcements and the confusion that was caused.
There are two meetings in October in order to catch-up due to the delayed start of the school year:
Tuesday, October 21 @ 5:30pm in the school library
Planning meeting–this meeting will be used to discuss priorities, plans, and financial support for the 2014-2015 year as well as gauge interest/availability of parent volunteers.
Tuesday, October 28 @ 5:30pm in the school library
Annual General meeting–this meeting will be to ratify the proposed budget, formalize volunteer roles, and solidify the 2014-2015 year plan. All parents are invited to stay on for the PAC AGM which is scheduled for 7pm.
The Montessori Parent Committee is looking for parents interested in working together to support the needs of our Montessori students. We would like to hear your ideas and thoughts regarding parent education, fundraising, and teacher/classroom support.
Please email Monica Tang (monicaktang@gmail.com) to get involved!
