Garage and Bake Sale

The Global Citizenship Club will be holding a garage and bake sale to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The sale will be held on Wednesday, May 14 at recess in the Boys’ Basement.

Thank you to all families who donated books and toys.

MONTESSORI PARENT EDUCATION EVENING
Come and join us on Wednesday, May 14th for a chance to learn more about the Montessori program and philosophy. It is also a good time to meet and mingle with other parents.

Selling Items at School

We do not allow students to sell items to each other at school. This too often causes problems when one student feels “ripped off”, items are lost, students claim not to have been paid etc. If you think your child might be planning to sell something at school, please remind them that it could be confiscated. The school cannot be responsible for a perceived loss of money or items. Students should not need to be bringing money to school except for an advertised school sponsored sale e,g, a bake sale.

TALENT SHOW

Students can now sign up for the talent show in the office. They will receive a letter to take home. Auditions will start on May 26th. Parents are asked to help student prepare for these. Performances will be on Thursday Jun 12th (Primary), and Friday June 13th (Intermediate) at 1:30 pm.

 “Elementary Parents ACE IT tour”

This is about the Career and Apprenticeship Programs offered by the Vancouver School Board. We are looking for one or two parents who might be interested in this tour.

Background:
•VSB Career Programs is trying to spread the word about the value of trades as a career option.
•It’s very clear that we need to get the word out to younger students and to parents.
•The bus tour showcases our VSB high school ACE IT programs
•We’ve done the tour multiple times, over many years, for a variety of groups – trustees, admin, counsellors, Planning 10 teachers, Tech Studies teachers. Everyone finds it inspiring.
•We hope parents will share the word once they’ve seen our awesome programs.
•ACE IT allows high school students to start trades training early … and complete high school academics at the same time.
•ACE IT students can design their timetable so that they also fulfill university prerequisites.
If you are interested, please email Mrs. Sellars your  name, email address, cell phone number, and elementary school by May 13th.
