LET’S RAISE AT LEAST $500 TO SUPPORT RESEARCH TO CURE CHILDREN’S CANCER
As the largest family fun run in Vancouver, ChildRun inspires participants to raise funds for childhood cancer research and treatment at BC Children’s Hospital. On Sunday June 1st, 2014, the 29th Annual ChildRun presented by the Wilson Family will host runners and walkers of all ages and abilities on an exciting run, where participants can choose between a scenic 5 km route or the Thrifty Foods 1 km Fun Run, followed by a carnival celebration.
Fundraising for ChildRun – Where the Money Goes (if you donate, registration fee is not considered a donation) Funds raised at the 2013 ChildRun supported the Oncology Program at BC Children’s Hospital in two distinct ways. 1. Research – A portion of the funds will go toward research to find better ways to treat and cure children with cancer. 2. The Future of Oncology Treatment – The remaining funds will go toward the future cancer treatment centre in the new BC Children’s Hospital.

Right to Play Leadership Training-April 2nd 2014
Right To Play is a global organization that uses the transformative power of play to educate and empower children facing adversity in many developing countries. It was founded in 2000 by Johann Olav Koss, a four-time Olympic gold medalist and social entrepreneur. Through sports and games, they help children build essential life-skills and better futures, while driving social change in their communities with lasting impact.
On this Wednesday, April 2nd, 11 of our grade 6 students attended the Right to Play Leadership workshop where they learned how to teach games to other students. Shortly, these student leaders will be sharing their skills and knowledge, coaching Maple Grove students how to play cooperative games.
