Courage and Terry Fox

Terry Fox is a name we hope that all students will remember. He is a Canadian hero who overcame the challenge of pain and persevered enough to run across Canada on an artificial leg to raise money for cancer research. He had lost his own leg to cancer and he wanted to help find a cure. Every year thousands of people run and raise money following the example of this courageous young man.

Courage is one of the virtues we are focusing on this month. I love the quote I saw on the board in Division 5’s room which Mrs Tsang had found.

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says …”I’ll try again tomorrow.”

Choir

We have had about 28 students sign up for choir so we are excited that this will start soon on the first Wednesday in October, (2nd) from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm  in the lunchroom. PAC will be sponsoring the choir but participants are asked to contribute $30. While parents are welcome to volunteer to help with organization and piano playing, they are asked not to wait in the lunchroom as it has proved to be a distraction for students who need to focus on their singing.

Next week a letter will be sent home for parents to sign.
