Budding Filmmakers at Maple Grove!
As part of the Artist in Residence program at Maple Grove, and very generously supported by PAC and an ArtStart grant, please follow the link to three animations films!
These videos were created by students in Divs 1, 2 and 13. Working in teams, students researched, storyboarded, filmed, edited and added sound to stories about their local history and environment. The artist mentors were Chad Sorensen and Weronika Stepien.
Thank-you to Maple Grove PAC, ArtStarts and Reel 2 Real (International Film Festival for Youth) for the wonderful opportunity to work with artists in our community!
Penny Drive
Next week the Global Citizenship Club will be collecting pennies for Free the Children’s national penny drive. Money collected will provide people in developing countries with clean water. As an added incentive, students will be competing for extra points for their Sports Day teams. Each Sports Day team will have a bucket in the main hall. The team who collects the most pennies by Thursday will receive extra points for their team. This is a good chance to get rid of your pennies and help a great cause. Good luck!
Thank-you to everyone who has emailed some pictures for our year-end slide show. It’s not too late to share your pictures! Send them to maplegrovephoto@gmail.com
End of Year Assemblies
We have two assemblies at the end of the year when students and staff come together to celebrate the year, acknowledge achievements in sports and academics, say goodbye to those leaving and have a last time all together. Unfortunately, we do not have enough room to extend an invitation to parents to join these assemblies.
