Three Events to Make Maple Grove Proud; Destination Imagination, Band Performance at Magee and Bollywood Dance by our Kindergarten and Grade 4 students.
Destination Imagination
Last Saturday three teams from Maple Grove under the guidance of Mrs. Humeniuk competed at the district Destination Imagination competition. Our teams did really well and ended up placing in the top third of the competition. They showed really good team work and team spirit. We were very proud of them.
The competition involved preparing a response to a very complex challenge that could involve building a device or structure, performing, telling a story all within a specific time period with many opportunities to show creativity, group work and individual talent. Thank you very much to Mrs. Humeniuk for her guidance and sponsorship of our teams.
Massed Band Concert
It was lovely to hear our Junior and Senior Bands Play at Magee under the direction of Curtis Matthewson. I was very impressed with their playing. It is a fine tribute to their committment to practicing. Well done!
Bollywood Dance
As part of the Artist in Residence Program funded by the parents, all the kindergarten and Grade 4 students have been learning Bollywood dancing this week culminating in a performance on Friday. Thank you very very much to all the parents who have contributed to this project. After Spring Break the other grades in the school wll have the opportunity to have an Artist in Residence work with them.
Maple Grove in 1925
Mr. Johnson found these photos in the City archives. Mrs. Peters was pretty excited to see all the bicycles parked along the side of the school. The Maple Grove exterior is very different now!
