October 12th Update

Important Note for Cross Country Parents

Please note that Maple Grove is partly responsible for operating the next meet at Quilchena Park on Tuesday, October 16th.  Therefore, we require 4 or 5 parent volunteers to help supervise, marshal the runners (walk with them over to the start line) and warm them up.  Please contact Mr. Munk if you are able to help out.

District Cross Country Meet

Checkers Club for Primary Students

We would really appreciate donated sets of gently used checkers sets.  We hope to have a checkers club for grades 1 to 3 starting soon.  Thank you to Ms Denise Watkins.

Lunch Room

For those students who are not on the hot lunch program, we ask that you please bring your own spoons or forks as we cannot continue to provide cutlery. It is needed for the students on the hot lunch program. Also, students not on the hot lunch program may not use the trays as dishes to use for the food they bring from home. Thank you for your help with this.

UBC Halloween Science Opportunity

On Saturday, October 27, 2012 there will be a free afternoon of spooky science fun for kids in grades K-6 and their families presented by the Faculty of Science and Radiation Safety. We will present the Phantom Physics and Cryptic Chemistry show twice at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

Widen Your World – Welcome a Student

It is becoming a tradition. Each year, hundreds of international students arrive in Vancouver to attend the Vancouver School Board’s high school program. Students usually stay five to ten months. The Langara College Homestay Program is looking for host families who would like to welcome such students into their homes. Hosts are asked to provide a welcoming atmosphere, an English-speaking environment and three meals a day. Reimbursement is provided. Homestay fosters friendship and cultural understanding. For more information about the program, please call 604-323-5696 or e-mail:  homestay@langara.bc.ca
