Volunteer Tea

Next Friday, May 11th,  the staff at Maple Grove will be hosting our annual “Volunteer Appreciation Event”. Everyone who has volunteered this year is invited to our special celebration in the library at 10:15 am.

It’s a Kid’s Life

On Wednesday and Thursday this week, the students of Divisions 1, 5, and 6 put on a wonderful show, It’s A Kid’s Life.  The students performed in a most professional manner.  It was as good as being at a live show on Broadway. Thank you to the students and to their teachers, Ms Plavan, Mrs. Humeniuk and Ms Yeung.

POETRY AND SPEECH ARTS ASSEMBLY

On Monday we had a celebration around this year’s oral language goal.  We heard many lovely poems, including some slam poems presented by the students of Division 1.  The slam poems made us think about some challenging issues.  Also we heard the winner of our poetry competition, Daniel Chan from Division 3, recite his poem.

CHILDRUN for BC Children’s Hospital

Dear Maple Grove Families, Teachers & Staff,

We are excited to announce that we have our very own Maple Grove Elementary School Child Run team again this year!!  This very special family fun run takes place at 9:00 am on Sunday, June 3rd at 33^rd & Heather near BC Children’s Hospital.  All proceeds go to raise money for the fight against childhood cancer.  Please register your family on the “Maple Grove” team at www.childrun.com and then follow these instructions:

1. Click on the “Register Now” icon in the upper right hand corner.
2. Read the waiver and click on “I agree“.
3. Select “Join a Team” and scroll down to select “Maple Grove Elementary School“.
4. Complete your information here, and you’re done!

ChildRun is sponsored by our Maple Grove Kilometer Club. Please come out to running practices at 8:30AM sharp every Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday, rain or shine. All students (and their families) are welcome and encouraged to participate. If you are not able to participate, please consider donating to the Maple Grove School team.
