December 16th 2011 Update

Our sister school, Nightingale Elementary, sends their sincere thanks for “your generosity and support for our families”.  The hampers looked beautiful.  The Toonie donations added up to more than our  goal of $600.00!  We were able to include very nice gift certificates for groceries in each hamper.  Many thanks to Ms Lam, Ms Wong and Ms Adams for their hard work in co-ordinating and accomplishing this very important and special  holiday tradition at Maple Grove.

Winter Wonderland – Thanks To and From Student Council

Thanks to Student Council many students had a magical tour of the Elves Workshop, Candyland, a visit with one of Santa’s helpers, (looking and acting very like Santa of course), the Christmas Knowledge Challenge and the Wreath Toss. Student Council would like to thank the many parents and staff who helped by being there, and with setting up or lending lights and decorations.  If your lights or decorations have not yet been returned to you, please check with Mrs. Sellars.

Christmas Craft Day

The primary students had a really fun day on Wednesday.  Many thanks to Ms Yeung who made sure another one of Maple Grove’s special holiday traditions was carried out in such a fabulous way.  Ms Yeung had many helpers and everyone deserves a big THANK YOU, including staff, parents, intermediate students and also a big THANK YOU to PAC for their support.  If you’d like to have a look at Ms Hales’ blog:   http://sharonhales.wordpress.com/, she has some great photos taken on Christmas Craft Day.

If Your Child is Sick

Just a reminder that if your child is not well he/she is far better off being warm and comfortable at home than at school.  He/She will recover faster, and the spread of germs will be limited.

Kelty Pinwheel and FORCE In theKnow Topic Lineup – Jan-June 2012

The Vow of Silence campaign was a huge success. We raised $600 for Free the Children and raised awareness for victims of oppression through our silent statements.  Thanks to all staff and students who participated. The Global Citizenship Club would also like to acknowledge all of the generous donations that we received from our school community.

From All the Staff at Maple Grove

We wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Peace and Good Fortune in the New Year. May you find joy in family and friends and in the traditions that are important to your family.
